Anker’s smart home brand, Eufy, has officially launched the $299 Eufy Video Doorbell S4, as part of its new Edge 5.0 lineup.

Billed by the company as the world’s first smart doorbell to offer VR viewing, the device moves away from traditional narrow video frames by introducing an immersive panoramic view of the doorstep.

The doorbell features a 3K HDR image sensor with a square 3072 x 3072 resolution (roughly 9 megapixels) and an ultra-wide lens that delivers a 180-degree field of view both horizontally and vertically. This expansive perspective allows users to see visitors from head to toe while simultaneously monitoring package deliveries left directly on the ground.

Central to the S4’s functionality is the . When a visitor approaches, the AI locks onto the individual, automatically cropping and following movement within the panoramic frame to keep them centred.

When someone rings the bell, users receive a phone notification resembling an incoming call. Answering it launches a full-screen VR feed. Users can physically move their mobile device or use a VR headset to look around the entryway in real time, complete with two-way audio support.

For robust motion detection, the device integrates radar technology, capable of tracking movement up to 8 metres away, alongside dual PIR infrared sensors to effectively distinguish human activity. It also includes dual spotlights for colour night vision and a welcoming warm glow when people approach.

While the S4 supports major smart home ecosystems including Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit, advanced features like VR viewing and OmniTrack are exclusive to the official Eufy app. Furthermore, Apple HomeKit integration requires a separate HomeBase S380 gateway.

The S4 connects with the HomeBase S380 to enable local storage, bypassing  monthly subscription fees.
