Anker Nano 45W Smart Display Charger (A121D) Review

  • Nice and compact
  • Useful battery care features
  • Reliable performance
  • Just the one port
  • Prongs don't fold

Pretty much all of the best phones we review no longer come with a charger in the box, meaning many will be looking for a good pick when upgrading to a new phone.

The Anker Nano 45W Smart Display Charger (A121D) is one such pick. This compact charger comes with a single USB-C port that can output at 45W – a good speed for most phones.

It also has a few other tricks designed to try to help your phone’s battery stay healthier for longer. And that can only ever be a good thing.

  • Three colour options
  • Prongs do not fold

I never thought I would describe a charging brick as ‘cute’, but this is certainly the closest I will likely ever come. Anker has designed something very small with plenty of power that looks pretty good.

This version is available in three colours (black, white and an iPhone 17 Pro-matching Orange) and has a soft-touch finish around the sides. On the front there’s a glossy portion for the small display – I’ll talk more about this below.

It’s a very well-built charger that feels every bit of its £34.99 price tag. That’s far from cheap, but still accessible.

Sadly, the UK version of this charger doesn’t ship with the foldable prongs – something the US version does have. That means you’ll need to be careful that the three prongs don’t scratch a device if they’re in the same bag. It also means this is a slightly larger charger overall than the US version, which is a shame.

Features and Performance

  • Display shows useful information

The A121D is a single-port USB-C charger capable of outputting a max of 45W of power. It’s ideal for phones and smaller devices like Kindles, but will struggle with more power-hungry laptops. It also won’t be as fast as other options for juicing up phones capable of super-fast charging, and even the iPhone 18 Pro Max can charge quicker when attached to a 60W+ plug.

Still, for most people looking for a small charger for a phone, this is a good charge. Having one port is a little restrictive, and I would like to see a multi-port version, although that would increase the weight, so I can understand why Anker has gone for a single port here.

In all my testing, the A121D performed well. It stayed cool even when maxing out at around 45W and managed to charge devices at the speeds I had expected.

The star of the show is the bright, easily visible display. This handy panel is home to all sorts of useful information, from current charging speeds to temperature – there’s even a cute little character that pops up. If you’re using an iPhone, it’ll know the model you have plugged in. New models can be added through a companion app, and I did this process to get the iPhone 18 Pro to show up. It doesn’t name Android phones or other devices, and if you use a split cable, it obviously won’t work.

Anker says the charger will use the information about which iPhone is plugged in to optimise the charger and deliver power safely.

There’s a small indent that can be pressed to alter modes and what is displayed on the screen, and you can switch to a Care Mode which aims to bring the battery temperature down by 5 degrees with the aim of extending battery life over the long run. Of course, I can’t test this after a few weeks of use, but it is a welcome addition nevertheless, especially for those who charge phones overnight.

Should you buy it?

You want a charger that’ll look after your battery

The battery features here are welcome, and great to see in such a compact unit.

You want to charge more than one device at once

There’s only one port here, so it’s not a good choice if you want to juice up multiple phones at once.

If you’re looking for a neat little charger for an iPhone 18 Pro – or any other best iPhone or best Android phone – this is a great pick. It’s small, sleek and comes with some welcome tricks you won’t see on too many models.

The single port and lack of foldable prongs may put some off – and it’s not the best pick for larger devices that require more than 45W – but there’s still enough here to make it worth the price.

Tested over a few weeks with a variety of devices, including an iPhone 18 Pro.

What’s the maximum output?

The single USB-C port can output up to 45W.
