The upgrade will make its debut during the October 23–25 race weekend at Circuit of the Americas, bringing spatial audio to F1 coverage for the first time. It joins the existing Dolby Vision support, meaning viewers with compatible equipment can now enjoy both enhanced picture quality and more immersive sound.
Beyond the audio upgrade, Apple is also giving viewers more control over how they watch. The United States Grand Prix will feature English and Spanish commentary, alongside up to 30 additional live feeds, including individual driver tracking, live timing data, onboard cameras and a dedicated feed following the top three drivers.
There’s also Multiview, which lets fans watch up to four live feeds simultaneously. Apple has now expanded the feature to supported smart TVs, rather than limiting it to Apple devices and streaming players.
For those wanting more than the race itself, Apple is bringing back its original F1 programmes, including Circuits in Focus with former world champion Nico Rosberg and Full Throttle, featuring driver Yuki Tsunoda. Fans can also follow live standings and race updates through the free Apple Sports app.
While Dolby Atmos won’t change what happens on the track, it could make a noticeable difference to how fans experience the action at home, particularly those with a compatible surround-sound setup.
