Dozens of Google Cloud services failed in the company’s London data centre region on Tuesday morning, and hit firms that run their systems there. The same morning, customers of fintech Revolut could not use its app or pay by card.
A person familiar with the matter told Reuters that Revolut’s outage was related to the Google Cloud disruption.
Revolut, which is based in London, runs its app and back-end systems on Google Cloud. The two companies expanded that partnership in a multi-year deal in September 2025, which also covers the AI tools Revolut uses to spot fraud.
According to Google’s service health page, the problems began at 07:08 UK time in europe-west2, the cloud region Google runs from London. Google lists 36 affected products, including Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage and BigQuery.
“We apologize to all who are affected by the disruption,” Google wrote on the page.
In the meantime, Google told its customers to move their work to another zone or region if they can. Its next update was due at noon UK time.
Revolut’s problems started at around 8am UK time, about an hour after Google’s incident began. Users in the UK, Ireland, France, Spain, Romania and Germany reported problems. Revolut has said only that a service problem hit several features, and that customers’ money and data were safe.
Revolut’s own status page showed most services as unavailable or partly unavailable, including card payments and cash withdrawals. The fintech, which serves both business customers and consumers, has more than 80 million personal users.
Separately, ING Germany said some customers could not log in to its online bank and app because of a technical fault. Reuters did not link that problem to Google.
Reports of trouble with Google Cloud also spiked on outage tracker Downdetector during the morning. Google had not said when service would be fully back, nor had Revolut.
