Grado’s Signature S150 offers an affordable way into its headphone range

Grado’s Signature range has a new pair of headphones, and for an audio brand that’s usually associated with premium-priced efforts, the Signature S150 strike an affordable asking price.

Priced at £295 / $295, the Signature S150 serve as the entry-level model into the company’s Signature series, dropping the asking price further from the S550 that launched in early 2026, and certainly a much less expensive proposition than the S750 that we reviewed earlier this year.

What do you get for that accessible price? The S150 features a newly developed 44mm S driver that has incorporated technology from the higher-end HP100 SE and S950, with Grado claiming that the S150 are able to deliver “exceptional clarity and detail while maintaining a full-bodied, musical presentation.”

The new driver design marks Grado’s “ongoing exploration” of materials, magnetic design and the influence of these aspects on musical reproduction. Grado believes that the tuning of the headphones is able to deliver a level of clarity and detail that “challenges expectations for a headphone in its class”, while still preserving the “natural body and music character” of the music you’re listening to.

Grado S150 Signature product

It’s an open-backed pair of headphones, which tend to have some limitations when it comes to bass frequencies, but Grado feels the S150’s driver design addresses this with a clean, articulate bass and “satisfying sense of presence”. The tuning of the headphones is designed to bring balance across the frequency range, bringing out detail without sacrificing “fullness or musical engagement.

The aesthetics have undergone something of an overhaul with the S150 introducing “an entirely new single-piece housing design” which Grado believes modernises the classic feel of the brand. The Signature Bronze cables that come with headphones are detachable (great for if they get tangled). However, the headband does use leather which may not appeal to Vegans out there.

The Bronze cables feature a lighter, softer, and more flexible construction with a 3.5mm termination and a 6.3mm adapter included to connect the headphones to a wide range portable audio players, headphone amplifiers and hi-fi kit. You can order the S150 with alternative cable terminations so you can connect the headphones that suits what equipment you have available.
