Logic Pro 13.0 now available with AI music tools and iPad control

Apple has started rolling out its latest Creator Studio updates, with Logic Pro for Mac first in line for a refresh that brings AI-powered music tools, a redesigned interface and closer iPad integration.

The updates were announced last month, with Logic Pro 13.0 now available for both Creator Studio subscribers and those who purchased the software outright. Other apps in the bundle, including Final Cut Pro and Pixelmator Pro, are due to receive their updates later in November.

One of the biggest additions is Intelligent Assistant, an AI-powered feature that lets users build beats using natural language prompts. Rather than manually piecing together every element of a track, users can describe what they’re looking for and let Logic Pro help with the process. There’s a catch, though: Intelligent Assistant is exclusive to Creator Studio subscribers, so anyone using the standalone version won’t have access to it.

The update also introduces a Unified Browser, bringing loops, instruments, effects and plug-in presets into one searchable library. Logic Pro can automatically analyse and tag imported sounds, while users can search using everyday descriptions such as “atmospheric pad” or “lo-fi kick”. It’s a useful change for anyone working with large sample libraries, where finding the right sound can sometimes take longer than actually putting it into a track.

Apple has also improved Stem Splitter, which can now separate individual drum elements, including kicks, snares, hi-hats and cymbals. This gives producers more control when remixing existing recordings, particularly when the original multitrack files aren’t available. Meanwhile, a new Liquid Glass design introduces translucent menus and toolbars, bringing Logic Pro in line with Apple’s wider software makeover.

Another welcome addition is Sidecar support, allowing an iPad to work as a multi-touch controller for Logic Pro on a Mac. Users can trigger Live Loops, adjust mixer channels and control instruments directly from the tablet, offering a more hands-on approach without needing a separate hardware controller. The update also adds a resizable Play Surface and improved Step Sequencer editing tools.

Apple hasn’t provided a specific release date for the remaining updates beyond November, but Logic Pro users can get started with version 13.0 now. The new tools offer plenty to explore, although the subscription-only Intelligent Assistant makes it clear where Apple is placing some of its more advanced features.
