Meta is reportedly planning to launch a new version of its without a built-in camera, following a widespread public and regulatory backlash over privacy concerns. Current models of Meta’s smart eyewear include a used for capturing photos, recording videos and allowing the company’s AI assistant to interpret the wearer’s surroundings. However, the technology has drawn sharp criticism and even bans in various UK pubs, cinemas, theatres, schools and courtrooms. Critics and privacy advocates dubbed the devices “pervert glasses” after they were misused by individuals to secretly record people without their consent.

King Charles has warned AI executives of the “existential dangers” posed by the technology falling into the wrong hands. He made the comments at a summit he had convened at Dumfries House in Ayrshire to discuss how the tech can be used to benefit society. Those gathered at the meeting also included Kanishka Narayan, the UK’s AI Minister, the Pope’s advisor, and participants from AI giants such as Nvidia, OpenAI and Anthropic. It comes amid a series of recent warnings from people inside the industry about the rapidly evolving capabilities of advanced or “frontier” AI models and the regulation needed to keep them in check. Cybersecurity researchers have with the help of Anthropic’s Claude chatbot, in the latest example of security issues at the company. A team at a US-based startup compromised a number of OpenAI employees’ ChatGPT accounts, starting a process that enabled them to access their target’s software cache – and potentially more. “The scope of what we could theoretically access was huge,” said researchers at Hacktron AI. GTA 5 has suffered a new leak that suggests Rockstar Games had ambitious, city-sized DLC plans for the game. Reports emerging online today indicate a near 200GB version of the GTA 5 source code initially leaked in 2023 has now been made public, and interested parties are analyzing it as we speak.
