Nothing's now-not-so-sub-brand CMF is taking on the likes of JBL, Sonos, and Bose in the U.S., as the company has today introduced its first-ever portable Bluetooth speakers.
The company has unveiled two models, called the CMF Speaker S and CMF Speaker M. The company says the new speakers bring CMF's distinctive design language, balanced sound, durability, and easy connectivity to make everyday listening more convenient.
The CMF speakers have a pretty interesting retro-inspired design, something that looks quite different from most portable Bluetooth speakers we've seen lately. As expected, the Speaker S is the smaller, more portable option, while the Speaker M is designed to deliver a larger, more powerful audio experience.
Both speakers come in four colors: White, Dark Grey, Orange, and Turquoise. And in typical CMF fashion, there's plenty of customization here too. Both models feature swappable front panels and a physical control knob, and the company says users can even 3D-print their own designs for the speakers.
The design is already winning me over

Coming to the specifications, the smaller Speaker S features a custom-tuned 45mm full-range driver alongside dual passive radiators, delivering up to 10W of output across a frequency range of 70Hz to 20kHz. The Speaker M takes things further with a dual-driver closed-box design, featuring a dedicated 25W woofer and a 10W tweeter for a total of 35W RMS output. It also offers a slightly wider frequency range of 60Hz to 20kHz.
Both speakers also feature a hardware-level adaptive tuning algorithm that continuously analyzes audio playback and adjusts the EQ in real time. There's also an Ultra Bass mode, which CMF says adds more controlled low-end output and a wider soundstage.
As with portable speakers from other brands, you can pair two identical Speaker S or Speaker M units to achieve proper left-right stereo audio. There's also Auracast support, which means you can synchronize playback across multiple compatible speakers.

Connectivity seems pretty well covered, too. Both models feature Bluetooth 6.0, NFC tap-to-pair, and Google Fast Pair for quicker setup. There's also multipoint connectivity, allowing you to switch between devices like your Android phone and laptop, as well as support for low-latency audio over USB-C.
In terms of battery life, CMF is promising up to 18 hours of playback at 50% volume with Ultra Bass enabled. The company also says a quick 10-minute charge should give you around an hour of listening time.
The CMF Speaker S starts at $59, while the larger Speaker M is priced at $109. Nothing says both speakers are available to buy starting today through nothing.tech and other major online retailers.
