Nous raises $17M to expand its household AI agent beyond the UK

London-based Nous has raised $17m to take its household AI agent outside the UK and add new features. Heartcore Capital and existing seed backer Mosaic Ventures provided the money. Chalfen Ventures, Joyance Partners and Bain Future Back Ventures joined too.

The agent moves people to cheaper car insurance, energy, broadband and mobile deals. It also cancels subscriptions and fills in forms.

In addition, it flags expensive contract terms and renewals, keeps family calendars, finds local tradespeople and books appointments.

Once a household signs up, Nous makes decisions and acts for it instead of simply sending suggestions. Almost 250,000 UK homes now use the service, and a new one joins every minute, according to the company.

Nous said it looks after about £2,765 ($3,703) of each home’s yearly spending. That adds up to more than £685m ($917m). A typical household saves £734 ($983) on its bills, the company added.

Founder and chief executive Greg Marsh previously co-founded onefinestay, the luxury home rental marketplace that Accor bought in 2016. He started Nous in 2021, and it raised a $9M seed round the following year, TechCrunch reported at the time.

The product left beta in 2025. Nous uses large language models for most tasks. For sensitive actions such as money decisions, it switches to fixed rules, which the company said cuts the risk of errors. Because it is registered with the Financial Conduct Authority, Nous said, it can also handle regulated products such as insurance.

“This isn’t a toy for tech bros,” Marsh said. “The vast majority of our users are women, typically working mums, who have to carry much of the mental load for their household.”

The company added that it does not sell customer data or earn money from advertising, so its agent works only for users rather than for suppliers.

Nous is positioning itself as a specialist as broader personal agents reach consumers. Meta launched its Muse personal agent in September, and weeks later Instinct raised $1bn at a $10bn valuation.

Marsh put British homes’ automatic payments at £1.7tn a year. He predicted agents would manage more than half of that within ten years.

Over the next year, Nous plans to use the funding to cover more spending categories and more regulated work, including wider insurance and other financial services. Alongside that, it will add tools for everyday chores and expand into other countries.
