Samsung is one of the few major Android OEMs holding out against bringing silicon-carbon batteries and to its Galaxy devices.
Fortunately, Samsung could end that stubbornness, at least on battery size, with its upcoming flagship devices, following the alleged battery images of the Galaxy S27.
First look at Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra's part
An official South Korean safety certification (via NotebookCheck) has been released, revealing pictures of the alleged batteries for the Galaxy S27 Ultra and Galaxy S27 Pro.
The images label the two components and , believed to align with the model numbers of the Galaxy S27 Ultra (SM-S958) and S27 Pro (SM-S957), respectively.
Both packs are manufactured by Zhuhai CosMX Power, according to the component trademarks and printed text.
Samsung ending the battery drought
The low-resolution images make it difficult to read the other details on the battery packs, including the actual capacities.
However, a separate certification from China's 3C, published in September, hinted at larger cells for the two premium Galaxy S27 models.
Namely, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is said to ship with a 5,534 mAh rated cell, whereas the smaller Pro has a 5,087 mAh capacity.
These are actual ratings, meaning Samsung could advertise the typical values of 5,700 mAh and 5,200 mAh, respectively.

Not record-breaking, but progress is always welcome
Compared with recent flagship competition like the , which sports a 7,000 mAh silicon-carbon battery, the Galaxy S27 Ultra's capacity isn't dramatic or impressive.
But given Samsung has stuck with 5,000 mAh on its premium Galaxy devices for years, the 700 mAh increase is still arguably a substantial jump from the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
For the Galaxy S27 Pro, which will sit between the smaller base and Ultra, the 5,200 mAh typical rating is a clear step up from the current Galaxy S26's 4,300 mAh capacity.
Cell-type-wise, they appear to use the same Li-ion chemistry rather than the newer Si/C found in Chinese flagship counterparts. This explains the modest increase across both packs, though it remains a welcome upgrade.
Although an earlier rumor suggested Samsung was testing a much larger 7,000 mAh battery in the Galaxy S27 Ultra, it hasn't materialized, suggesting the tech may not be ready yet.
Other details show the two phones are certified for 60W wired charging, unchanged from the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The Galaxy S27 Ultra could also arrive with an overhauled design, particularly on the back. Third-party renders suggest it will drop the floating lenses and one telephoto snapper for a rectangular camera plateau layout that mirrors the iPhone 18 Pro.
Samsung accelerating the Galaxy S27 release
There are also interesting developments regarding the release of Samsung's Galaxy S27 series.
Chatter from South Korean leaker yeux1122 on Naver suggests Samsung plans to accelerate the launch and release of the upcoming .
Instead of this year's S26 February debut, the next Unpacked could kick off with an early January announcement.
That cadence will put it ahead of MWC 2027, where we expect rival Android brands to showcase many competing flagships.
