Samsung has offered an early look at its plans for 2027, teasing changes to the Galaxy S27 series, an expanded foldable lineup and more AI-powered features. The company also hinted at new device designs as it looks to build on its existing Galaxy range.
During Samsung’s latest earnings call, Daniel Araujo, vice president of its mobile division, said the next-generation Galaxy S series would focus on giving each model a more distinct identity. While he didn’t reveal specific hardware changes, the comments come amid rumours that Samsung could introduce a new Galaxy S27 Pro model alongside a redesigned Galaxy S27 Ultra.
The company also has bigger plans for its foldable devices. Following an expansion of its lineup this year, Samsung says it wants to introduce thinner and lighter foldables in 2027, with designs that better suit how people use their phones.
Araujo also mentioned exploring new form factors, including TriFold devices, suggesting Samsung isn’t limiting its ambitions to the familiar Galaxy Z Fold and Flip designs. This could also tie into recent rumours of another addition to the Galaxy Z Fold 9 lineup, although Samsung hasn’t confirmed any specific models.
AI will remain another major focus. Samsung plans to expand its Galaxy AI features with more intuitive experiences that can better understand users’ intentions and the context of their requests. The company hasn’t detailed exactly what these improvements will involve, but they appear to be part of its wider strategy for next year’s flagship devices.
Before then, Samsung is also preparing for the busy holiday season, with Araujo confirming plans for promotional campaigns around its existing Galaxy flagships. He also referenced the release of smart glasses, potentially pointing to Samsung’s long-awaited Android XR eyewear. However, neither Samsung nor Google has formally confirmed a launch date for the device.
The announcements come as Samsung faces continued pressure from rising memory costs, which have weighed on its mobile business. Despite those challenges, the company appears to be pushing ahead with a broader Galaxy lineup for 2027, with more distinct flagship models, new foldable designs and deeper AI integration all on the agenda.
