OnePlus has started rolling out the stable ColorOS 17 update based on Android 17 to the OnePlus 15, marking the beginning of the company’s transition away from OxygenOS. The update is arriving earlier than expected, although it’s currently limited to users in India.
The rollout follows OnePlus’ announcement in July that all eligible devices would switch from OxygenOS to ColorOS with Android 17, regardless of region. The OnePlus 15 is among the first to make that transition, with the update carrying build number CPH2745_17.0.0.102(EX01).
One of the biggest changes is a redesigned interface, featuring new lighting effects, smoother animations and refreshed Lock Screen, Quick Settings and notification panels. These improvements are powered by a new Luminous Rendering Engine, while an upgraded Laminar Flow Engine aims to reduce lag when memory usage is high and keep important apps running in the background.
The update also brings several new AI features. Mind Pilot now includes an Agent mode capable of handling more complex tasks, such as organising photos and files automatically. There’s also OSee AI vision with document scanning, a redesigned Translate app, and new tools designed to detect AI-generated faces during video calls and synthetic voices used in scam calls.
Beyond the visual changes and AI upgrades, ColorOS 17 adds support for simultaneous audio playback from multiple apps, giving users more flexibility when managing audio on their phones.
Interestingly, the update has arrived a few days ahead of schedule. OnePlus originally listed 29 October as the rollout date for the OnePlus 15, making this an unusually early release compared with the company’s published timeline.
However, users outside India will have to wait a little longer, as OnePlus hasn’t confirmed when the stable update will reach other markets. With the company planning to replace OxygenOS across its eligible devices, the OnePlus 15’s rollout offers an early look at what other owners can expect from the switch to ColorOS 17.
