Waymo for Business now sends robotaxi receipts straight to Ramp

Waymo’s business riders no longer have to file their robotaxi receipts by hand. Waymo for Business now works with Ramp, the corporate card and expense software company, Waymo said in a blog post on Wednesday, 28 October.

When an employee takes a Waymo ride, the receipt goes to Ramp automatically and is matched with the card charge. Staff no longer need to find the receipt, upload it and attach it themselves. Companies can ask the Waymo for Business team to switch the integration on.

“For businesses already using Ramp, that means an easier way to incorporate Waymo into work travel while simplifying the expense process for employees,” Waymo wrote.

Waymo has sold rides directly to organisations through Waymo for Business for more than a year. Ramp, which passed $2bn in revenue this month, builds corporate cards and software that automate company spending.

More ground in five cities

The integration came a day after Waymo said it would expand in five US cities over the next week. The move adds nearly 250 square miles of territory, all in cities where it already operates.

In Los Angeles, service extends down the coast to the South Bay, including Torrance. Riders in Nashville, where Waymo launched on Lyft in September, can now travel further south, as far as the zoo. Waymo is nearly doubling its coverage in eastern Orlando and improving service downtown.

In San Diego, the service heads north to La Jolla. In the San Francisco Bay Area, Waymo is adding areas in the south, including a link to the Berryessa BART station. Riders can check the new areas in the Waymo app.

The expansion follows Waymo’s plan to grow its fleet fivefold to 20,000 robotaxis by 2027. This month it also closed a $5bn loan, its first debt deal.
